Drascombe AGM and counting down the days

Sunday 29th March 2015

I decided to take a day off work on Friday and headed to Bristol for some "me time", not something which I get much off with my busy family and work life.

After spending time looking around Bristol on Friday, I headed over on Saturday to the MV Balmoral for the AGM of the Drascombe Association. This was the first time as a DA member that I had attended, not wanting to bore you all with the details, there were a few lively moments, but a good turnout on a dull and wet day.

Following the AGM, I joined 26 other members for an evening meal at the local Loch Fyne restaurant.

For me, it was a good opportunity to meet some of the people whom I have spoken to on the phone, and also introduce myself to other members, there are times when mixing business with pleasure works, and this was one of them. It was also lovely to hear of the many adventures which owners have in their Drascombes, along with also being asked how Stewart was keeping, too which I answered that I had got him out of retirement this week to help me in the office.

After a lovely two days, it was time to head back to my family, sadly I lost my purse on the train journey home, so many phone call have been made today.

Meanwhile, now I am counting down the days until my next sailing lesson, Yes, I have caught the sailing bug, and hopefully I will have another chance before my first rally at the end of May, when I get to live aboard, another one to tick of my list.

While I have been enjoying myself (I call it networking) the workers in the yard are busy with three drop plate rudders, two curved tillers and a tiller extension (sounds like the twelve days of christmas) for Drascombe Dabber owners. This is along with two refurbs and a new boat to fit out, and two boats booked in for winter refurb work, so things are going well for us all.

Anyway, off to check that my sailing bag is all ready for next week, come back later and see what I learnt this time ........ xx
